History

The Capital Group Companies traces its roots back to 1931 when Jonathan Bell Lovelace founded a small investment management company in Los Angeles, California. Based on his experiences and observations, he felt that the investment industry had lost sight of its true mission, and he established the company with three timeless principles in mind:

  • Buy the securities of good companies at reasonable prices
  • Thoroughly research a company before you invest to determine its actual worth
  • Always be guided by a commitment to honesty and integrity

In the nearly 80 years since its founding, the company has grown into a thriving global complex. Over the years, we've had several notable milestones.

Today, The Capital Group Companies is one of the largest and most respected investment management firms in the world.
